Richard Rasmussen is a Partner at Lagerlof, LLP focusing his practice on corporate, real estate and business law. Before joining Lagerlof, LLP, Richard was the managing partner of Anglin Flewelling & Rasmussen LLP.
Richard represents local and national clients in a variety of industry sectors, including automobile dealerships, manufacturing and distribution companies, shopping center owners and mixed-use developers, universities and non-profit entities, restaurant and retail establishments, commercial landlords and tenants, and real estate brokerage companies. He is often called upon to serve in the role of outside general counsel for clients.
Richard has significant experience in advising and counseling clients in corporate transactions, including the handling of mergers and acquisitions, stock and asset purchase transactions, entity structuring, intellectual property licensing, employment arrangements, buy-sell arrangements, corporate governance, and every kind of business contract.
Richard is similarly experienced in representing clients in commercial real estate transactions, including commercial property acquisitions and dispositions, secured financing, leasing (ground, office, industrial and retail), 1031 exchanges and complex title issues.
Richard has received the highest rating (AV) for professional competence and ethics awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys. He has been repeatedly selected as a Southern California “Super Lawyer,” an honor reserved for less than 5% of attorneys in the State, and he has been recognized as one of “Southern California’s Top-Rated Lawyers” by the Los Angeles Times since 2013.
Richard received his undergraduate degree from Biola College in 1980. He graduated cum laude from Loyola Law School in 1987, was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society and served as President of his law school’s Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society. Richard was a tennis professional between college and law school.
Richard is a frequent author and speaker on transactional matters. Recently he was a co-author and presenter at the National Business Institute’s “Ultimate Guide to Commercial Real Estate Law,” as well as “The Attorney’s Guide to Real Estate Closings.” Richard advises a number of non-profit entities and enjoys serving on the Boards of Lighthouse Media NA and San Gabriel Community Church.
