John is a Partner at Lagerlof, LLP practicing primarily as a transactional lawyer concentrating in real estate and corporate law.Â
He has extensive experience in real estate acquisitions, financing, development, commercial leasing, and real estate brokerage, and in the formation, financing, and operation of business entities, business acquisitions, and corporate governance.
Significant real estate work has included a shopping center refinancing, resort development on Catalina Island, residential development on Catalina Island, commercial leasing for landlords and tenants, purchases and sales of commercial and industrial properties, and comprehensive real estate representation for a significant Southern California real estate owner/operator.
John is a member of the Real Estate and Business Law sections of the American, California and Los Angeles County Bar Associations. In the corporate area, he has served as a director of substantial public and private companies and as corporate secretary of several publicly-held corporations. He serves as outside general counsel to a number of companies and non-profit organizations, from small to significant. Recent corporate transactions include public company and private company mergers and acquisitions, private placements including private club debt offerings, corporate reorganizations, equity plans, executive compensation plans, and private company succession planning.
John graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Southern California in 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in economics. He obtained his law degree from the University of Southern California Law School in 1972. John was a partner of Walker Wright Tyler & Ward, LLP, Los Angeles, California from 1978-2002 (managing partner 1994-2000).
John is a longtime Pasadena resident and is active in a variety of community and social organizations.
