Erin L. Prouty is a Partner at Lagerlof, LLP, working from their El Segundo location practicing in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, probate and trust litigation, entity formation, and tax and charitable planning. She operates at the highest level of sophistication and expertise and has testified as an expert witness in these areas of law.
Erin works with many entertainment clients with high net worth and complicated asset and tax issues. Her clients come from the music and film industries and require special services that keep their identities protected. She has formed long-term relationships with several clients in the entertainment industry and is consistently referred to among other people in that industry.
Ms. Prouty is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law (certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization) and is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. She is an Adjunct Professor at the USC Gould School of Law. She was voted by her peers as Los Angeles County’s “Lawyer of the Year” in 2023 for trust and estates, as reported by Best Lawyers Magazine, and has been repeatedly listed by Los Angeles Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine as a “Southern California Super Lawyer.”
Erin served on the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the State Bar of California and is a former Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Beverly Hills Bar Association. She currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
Ms. Prouty often lectures for many charitable and professional groups, including the USC Probate and Trust Conference, the UCLA/CEB Estate Planning Institute, The Tax and Estate Planning Forum in San Diego, the UCLA Anderson School of Business, Pepperdine University, the Jewish Community Foundation, the National Business Institute and several local Bar Associations.
Erin was admitted to the California Bar in 1985. She received a B.A. from the University of Southern California in 1980, a J.D. degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1985, and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Taxation from Boston University in 1986.
