Michael is Senior Counsel at Lagerlof, LLP, where he focuses his practice on advanced estate planning, trust administration, tax controversy, international tax and estate planning, and mergers and acquisitions. He has extensive experience representing clients before the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board, assisting with the repatriation of foreign situs assets for U.S. beneficiaries, and helping establish foreign subsidiaries while ensuring compliance with European anti-money laundering regulations.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Comparative) from University of California San Diego, his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, and his LL.M. in Taxation (International) from Boston University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in California and is a member of both the Japanese Bar Association and the Korean Bar Association. Michael also formerly served as a member of the California Lawyers Association Corporate and Pass-Through Entities Committee.
In addition to his legal practice, Michael has contributed to the legal profession through his publication, “Electing Small Business Trust Quick Point,” published in CA Tax Lawyer, Volume 31, Issue 2 (2022).
Outside the office, Michael enjoys practicing Judo, playing golf, and deep-sea fishing
