Richard represents local and national clients in a variety of industry sectors, including automobile dealerships, manufacturing and distribution companies, shopping center owners and mixed-use developers, universities and non-profit entities, restaurant and retail establishments, commercial landlords and tenants, and real estate brokerage companies. He is often called upon to serve in the role of outside general counsel for clients.
Richard possesses broad experience in representing clients in commercial real estate transactions, including commercial property acquisitions and dispositions, secured financing, leasing (ground, office, industrial, and retail), 1031 exchanges, and complex title issues.
Richard has received the highest rating (AV) for professional competence and ethics awarded by Martindale-Hubbell, the national directory of attorneys. He has been repeatedly selected as a Southern California “Super Lawyer,” an honor reserved for less than 5% of attorneys in the State, and he has been recognized as one of “Southern California’s Top-Rated Lawyers” by the Los Angeles Times since 2013.
Richard is a frequent author and speaker on transactional matters.
