Jeremy is a Partner at Lagerlof, LLP practicing in the litigation department. 

Jeremy’s practice focuses on a broad range of state and federal litigation with an emphasis on financial services and banking matters.  Jeremy’s financial services experience includes the defense of lender liability actions and loan origination matters, including claims brought under the California Homeowner Bill of Rights, the Truth In Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

In addition to financial services litigation, Jeremy also has experience in a range of complex commercial suits, real estate-related matters, title disputes, and litigation involving intellectual property, contracts, and business torts.

Jeremy’s experience encompasses all phases of litigation from inception through trial and appeal.  Jeremy has successfully handed numerous appellate matters before the California Courts of Appeal and before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jeremy received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Michigan, where he graduated with honors.  He graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 2001.  While in law school, Jeremy was a member of the Public Interest Law Journal and a participant in the school’s clinical program in criminal law.

Outside of the office, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.  Jeremy is active in the Los Angeles Chapter of the University of Michigan Alumni Association, which provides scholarships to Los Angeles-area students attending the University of Michigan.

Jeremy’s representative matters include:

  • The dismissal of three putative class action complaints raising loan modification processing issues in Murphy v. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, D’Alessio v. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and McDermed v. Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, 2013 U.S. Dist. Lexis 118410 (N.D. Cal. Aug. 19, 2013);
  • The dismissal of complex loan origination and servicing claims in Amaral v. Wachovia Mortgage Corp., 692 F. Supp. 2d 1226 (E.D. Cal. 2010) and Taguinod v. World Sav. Bank, FSB, 755 F. Supp. 2d 1064 (C.D. Cal. 2010);
  • Defense summary judgment in federal court on claims of fraud and breach of contract in regards to a $3 million construction loan origination, servicing and fund disbursement, and foreclosure of the San Diego security property in Bickoff v. Wells Fargo Bank N.A., 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 78169 (S.D. Cal. June 13, 2016), affirmed by the Ninth Circuit, 705 Fed. Appx. 616 (9th Cir. 2017);
  • Successful litigation and resolution of numerous title-related matters, including lien priority disputes, easements, eminent domain, and adverse possession claims; 
  • Effective litigation and resolution of credit card disputes, including claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
